Propane SafetyPROPANE SERVICES
As a family-focused and community-oriented company, our number one priority is to keep those who we serve, work with, and live near safe. With some basic safety tips and information, you and your family can safely and comfortably enjoy all the benefits that propane can deliver.
What to do if you suspect a leak:
- Put out any open flames or smoking materials
- If you feel safe, go to your propane tank, open the lid, and turn the valve to the right (clockwise) to close the cylinder valve.
- Leave the area and call 911 or your local fire department. Before you restart your appliances, call us so we can determine if you need to have a service team member inspect your cylinder or appliances.
Everyday Safety Tips
Learn The Propane Smell
Teach everyone in your home what propane smells like. In your new customer package, you received a duty to warm safety manual that has scratch and sniff test. If you need a new manual, we will be happy to provide you a new one. Always take action immediately if you smell gas.
Much like emergency plans for fire and tornadoes, talk to your family about what to do and where to go if they do smell propane.
Keep flammable and combustible materials away from propane appliances, including furnaces. Combustible materials can include paper, clothing, wood, and solvents.
Know Your System
Let us show you what is under your propane tanks dome. We can help you identify shut-off valves, regulators, safety relief values, and how they operate. During your annual HVAC service, ask your technician to show you how the systems operate inside your home.
Talk With Your Kids
Make sure they know the smell of propane and your family’s emergency procedures. Make sure little ones don’t play on or around your propane tank, lines, or regulators.
